Environmental Statement Hearing

Public Hearings for the National Park Service Draft Environmental Impact Statement

January 5, 2012

The National Park Service has published the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for construction and right-of-way permit as requested by Pennsylvania Power and Light Electric Utilities Corporations (PPL) and Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G), in connection with their proposed Susquehanna-Roseland transmission line. They are proposing to replace existing 230kV(kilovolt) transmission line with a double circuit transmission line carrying both a 230kV line capable of being energized to 500kV and a new 500kV line across the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Middle Delaware National Scenic and Recreational River, and Appalachian National Scenic Trail, in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

A 60-day public comment period including public meetings has started and ends January 31, 2012. The Draft EIS is available for review and comment at http://parkplanning.nps.gov/ DEWA. You may submit your comments at the same website.

If you previously returned a postcard requesting a CD or hardcopy, it should arrive in the mail in the next few days. You may also submit written comments via postal service to Denver Service Center, Attn: Morgan Elmer 12795 West Alameda Parkway PO Box 25287 Denver CO 80225-0287.

You are also invited to attend public meetings to learn about the project and provide your comments.

If you are unable to attend the public meetings, please provide comments by January 31, 2012 via postal service or the internet at http:// parkplanning.nps.gov/DEWA. Your comments and thoughts are extremely important to Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Middle Delaware National Scenic and Recreational River, and Appalachian National Scenic Trail.

A desk copy of the document is available for viewing at the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area Headquarters. Additionally, hardcopies will be available at local libraries. Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area Headquarters, 1 River Road (off US 209) Bushkill, PA 18324-9999.
